The Cavalier 28 is a one-design yacht designed for both racing and cruising1. It was designed in New Zealand by Laurie Davidson, a designer famous for racing boats (including successful defenders and challengers for the America’s Cup).

It is built by the New Zealander yard Cavalier Yachts. The hull is made of fibreglass, which generally requires only a minimum of maintenance.
The boat is typically equipped with an inboard Bukh diesel engine. It’s equipped with a masthead rig and a fin keel, providing splendid manoeuvrability.
The Cavalier 28 is a moderate weight sailboat which is under powered. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized.
The Cavalier 28 has an active owners’ association based in Sydney Harbour.

The Cavalier 28 is ideal for both racing and social and recreational sailing. It provides high-performance racing for inshore and limited offshore events, while at the same time providing simple and spacious accommodation.
